CHOSEN BAND RESEARCH

OneRepublic is an American rockband from Colorado Springs formed in 2003 by Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins. In 2003, the band was discovered by Kelly Barrett in Hollywood and signed to Sony BMG for three years, before moving to Mosely Music Group. In 2007, they released their debut album Dreaming Out Loud. Their lead single "Apologize" was remixed by Timbaland and was a huge international success, reaching number one in sixteen countries. The second single "Stop and Stare" mirrored the success of the first single later getting certified Platinum by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

BEHIND THE SCENES
STOP AND STARE LIVE
OneRepublic has a varied style of music and has been described by Ryan Tedder (band member) as "We're no respecter of genre. If it's a good song or a good artist whether rock, pop, indie or hip hop, they've probably influenced us on some level...nothing's new under the sun, we're a sum of a bunch of parts."
They cite The Beatles and U2 as heavier influences on its music. OneRepublic has expressed a desire to move audiences onstage the way U2 does. Allmusic commented on the band's sound, "... OneRepublic recalls the melodies of the Fray and the vocal acrobatics of Maroon 5's Adam Levine... and often favors cathartic, cranked-up choruses."
However, Tedder downplays Martin's Coldplay as an influence; "Their influences are our influences. The big difference, though, is that I come from a much wider hip-hop and urban background. I've been producing, writing and performing urban stuff, and I try to bring that into the group because we're not trying to be a British band."
Drew Brown (another band member) also stated: "We aren't all die-hard Coldplay fans, but because of the comparisons, we've done our research, and I'm sure we've got a large handful of common influences."

OneRepublic Interview & how it all started
OneRepublic Interview On Our Chosen Song 'Stop and Stare'
This video is vital for us as a group to grasp an understanding of the band members and the way they work with their music and how they describe/talk about their albums. In watching these interview clips we gain a greater sense of the band themselves and the types of artists they are.
This video is directed at a specific album which is their latest product 'Native' and we see Ryan Tedder the lead singer, being interviewed by a talk show about the album.
Seeing as we chose the song 'Stop and Stare' I thought it would be appropriate to try and find an interview where the band were talking about this song. This video I found was the perfect solution as Ryan Tedder actually explains the true meaning behind the narrative of the music video and the key details behind the scenes on how they filmed and shot the video. He also analyses the lyrics he wrote and tells us as an audience the reasons for making these lyrics as they are. This video is a massive help in order to filming our music video as a group as we can now see the interpretations behind the song and the way 'OneRepublic' go about directing and filming their videos to promote themselves.
This video is another key element we can use in the making of our digipak for our album cover. In this video the band talk about how they don't live up to the stereotype of looking like a band and that they are quite plain, however this is what sparked the idea from a creative designer for their album cover 'Native' which the designer suggested they are all unique and individual like a group of animals that are never together. This is where the colourful album cover featuring many animals originated from. These ideas help us as a group and highlight to us the thought processes behind the album covers and what it takes to make one.

OneRepublic Behind The Scenes Footage In The Making Of A Music Video
This video is yet again, another massive help for us as a group as OneRepublic here talk about how they made their music video and the problems/dilemmas they came across in order to make it successful. This will correlate directly to some situations we are bound to stumble upon and we can relate to the problems they experience in finding the perfect location settings etc.

As you can see below there are a number of OneRepublic's album and single cover with a variety of different designs and features, some colourful, some more dull for effective reasons.
