MAGAZINE ADVERT RESEARCH

As the second part of the ancilliary task, creating a Magazine advert for our music video is essential. In producing this advert, it would have to reference the front cover of the album some how so that it conventially looked like a uniform product. To begin in producing the advert, I looked at successful existing products that are in magazines so that I knew the correct things to include when producing my own. Below are a bunch of magazines I looked through to know how firstly different magazines present them and also what genre of music the magazines have in them which gives me an idea of the target audience too. Through the research, it revealed that the size of the adverts had to have a height of 297mm by 210mm width, thus, the size has to be A4.  Also, the advert had to include key information about the album and information on how it can be purchased. Most of the adverts were single pages which suggests that they all should be, however, the La Roux album advert in the slideshow on the left indicates that some adverts can be double pages. La Roux's one doesnt cover two pages across a magazine but is back to back on the same page. An advantage of this is that it allows room for more information of the album to be spread across the pages and also the first page will draw the reader in to find out more.

As part of this research, below indicate more information on the magazine adverts I have decided to look at more.

EXAMPLES OF MAGAZINE ADVERTS

After studying the magazine examples, I have learnt more about the conventions required when producing my own post production, examples being relating the colours with the texts so they dont look out of place. Also, creating a contrast at the top and bottom of the page, so information such as the producers and distrubutors can be displayed cleary. These design features all contribute to making a magazine advert that looks not only professional but promotes the brand well too which is essential in this advertisment production.
