I beleive the meaning of the song is about a casual relationship which has developed into something which doesnt furfill the needs of the singer (Rihanna). The connotations seem to suggest that Rihanna has fallen in love with someone who is abusive towards her but she cannot control her love for him.
The introduction of the music video is comprised of a series of fragmenrted body shots of Rihanna looking as if she is getting ready to take a bath, through the act of getting undressed. These scenes have no speech in them and the tone of the song is set by the down beat and low keys sound from the piano.

Analysis:
The effects of voyeurism are enhanced through these shots and the male gaze of the viewers will already begin to take effects and draw the viewers attention to these sexualy revealing shots.
As the video progresses the shots become longer and slows down the pace of editing which matches the sombre nature of the music video. The opening shots when the lyrics begin to play, there is an 8 second clip which has no miming from Rihanna and tracks up from the water to her face, setting the scene of the bath but also showing the emotions of the singer through her facial expression which shows she is extremely upset. Continuing on from setting the scene the director has utilised allot of closeups to make the video more intimate between the viewer and Rihhana and we are encouraged to share her emotions.
